At Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, the thematic auditorium “Polish Chamber” was opened, the creation of which was thanks to the efforts of the rector’s office, the directorate of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Foreign Languages, the staff of the Department of Slavic Philology, Foreign Literature and Teaching Methods, as well as the support of the private School of Polish Language and Culture “Uczmy się polskiego!”

The director of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Foreign Languages ​​thanked the rector of the university for supporting the initiative to create a thematic educational space.

With this event, as noted by the rector of the university Oleksandr Cherevko, we continue the week of the Republic of Poland and the Days of the Polish language at the university.

According to him, the rectorate aims to provide a modern and comfortable educational environment for students of the new educational program “The Polish language. Translation and cross-cultural communication” and popularization of the study of the Polish language by students of various specialties who study the Polish language according to the curriculum.

This is a systematic consideration of the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance regarding an inclusive environment that will provide conditions for the education of students with special needs.

Today, the rector continued, the university has all the objective prerequisites for studying the Polish language. This is evidenced by the fact that the Polish language is already integrated into the educational process of Ukraine; its study from the 5th to the 11th grade, conceptual approaches to the processes of updating the content of education of the New Ukrainian School, which are based on the “Recommendations of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe on the formation of key competences for lifelong learning”, has been started.

Graduates of this educational program will be able to be not only translators, but also the first qualified teachers of the Polish language in Cherkasy Region.

The rector wished inspiration in the studies to those students who participated today in Polish Language Dictation for the title of Orzeł ortografii polskiej (Eagle of Polish Orthography). So that this new educational audience becomes the foundation for achieving professional heights in the future.

Michał Stanisław Jastrzęmbski, Polish language teacher, NAWA ambassador, who has been working at BKNUC since 2021, addressed those present with words of gratitude for their cooperation.

A 1st year student, Nikita Ralf, who studies in the EP “The Polish language. Translation and cross-cultural communication”, expressed gratitude in Polish to the university management and lecturers for the opportunity to gain knowledge in comfortable conditions.

Students has written the dictation. Checking is in progress. Winners will be announced later.

Then there was a pleasant moment: students read excerpts from Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet” in Polish, taking on different roles.
